Please be careful as there are narrow sections on the road from Prefectural Route 209 to our villa (towards Senbon Kogen Campground).

Takemori Garden is a grape-picking farm.

How to get to Senbon Terrace

by plane:
Matsuyama Airport is the airport in Shikoku with the most flights from Tokyo and Nagoya.
Takamatsu Airport is the airport in Shikoku with the most flights from Osaka.

If you’re planning on spending 4-8 days touring Shikoku, we recommend flying into Matsuyama Airport and flying to your next destination outside of Shikoku from Takamatsu Airport. Alternatively, you could fly into Takamatsu Airport and fly to your next destination outside of Shikoku from Matsuyama Airport.

The most efficient way to travel around Shikoku is by rental car, so we recommend renting a car at the airport.

Route example for 8 days and 7 nights:
Day 1:
Fly into Takamatsu Airport.
Rent a car and
Go to Ritsurin Garden and enjoy a stroll.
Stay overnight in Takamatsu.

Day 2:
Travel to Wakimachi in Tokushima Prefecture to see the old townscape. Then, cross the Kazura Bridge in Iya.
Then, go rafting at Oboke and Koboke.
Travel to Kochi City and spend the night. For dinner, have seared bonito at Hirome Market.

Day 3:
Visit Kochi Castle. Then, try canoeing, kayaking, or clear kayaking on the Niyodo River.
Then, travel to Senbon Terrace for the night.

Days 4-7
Using Senbon Terrace as your base, you can enjoy the following experiences:
・Shikoku Karst (hike the Tengu Kogen Therapy Road and try an e-bike) *We also recommend pre-ordering a “Therapy Lunch Box” at “Hoshifuru Village TENGU
・Uchiko Town (stroll through the old townscape)
・Mount Ishizuchi (The Tsuchigoya Route is a little over two hours from the Tsuchigoya entrance. Best time to hike is late May to late October.) *There is a Montbell shop, a convenience store and a restaurant at Tsuchigoya Terrace.

Day 8
Move to Matsuyama City. Experience retro Japanese culture at Dogo Onsen and explore the history of Matsuyama Castle (ropeway and lift).
We also recommend cycling the Shimanami Kaido.
Afterwards, you can either cross over to Onomichi to continue your journey on Honshu, or depart for other cities from Matsuyama Airport.

Example of a 3-night, 4-day route:
Day 1:
Arrive at Matsuyama Airport. Rent a car and travel. Experience retro Japanese culture at Dogo Onsen and explore the history of Matsuyama Castle (ropeway and lift). Travel to Senbon Terrace (approximately an hour from Matsuyama city).

Days 2-3
Using Senbon Terrace as your base, you can enjoy the following experiences:
・Shikoku Karst (hike the Tengu Kogen Therapy Road and try an e-bike) *We also recommend pre-ordering a “Therapy Lunch Box” at “Hoshifuru Village TENGU
・Uchiko Town (stroll through the old townscape)
・Try canoeing, kayaking, or clear kayaking on the Niyodo River.We also recommend renting a bicycle and taking a leisurely ride along the Niyodo River.

・Shikoku Karst:about a 70-minute
・Nakatsu Valley(Niyodo River):about 50 minutes
・Yasui Valley(Niyodo River):about 70 minutes
・Tsuchigoya(entrance to the Ishizuchi Mountain Climbing Hut Route):about 60 minutes

・Tobe:about 30 minutes
・Uchiko:about 60 minutes
・Ozu:about 80 minutes
・Matsuyama City:about 60 minutes
・Kochi City:about 120 minutes

Best season to visit Senbon Terrace

The best months to visit are March, April, June, July, and November, when there are fewer Japanese tourists.
We also recommend staying on weekdays.
For those who want to enjoy skiing or snowboarding, Kuma Ski Land is located near Senbon Terrace, so December, January, and February are also recommended.
However, in winter, please make sure to bring a rental car with winter tires.
